From 1996-2006 Scott King served as the Mayor of Gary, Indiana, the Chief Executive Officer for government services for a population of more than 100,000 residents, the largest city in northwest Indiana, and an oversight of an annual budget of approximately 100 million dollars and approximately 1,200 employees in a variety of disciplines.

In addition, during this period he served as Special Administrator of the Gary Sanitary District, a wastewater treatment facility serving three other municipalities in addition to the City of Gary. Other responsibilities included service on an array of regional boards including workforce development, metropolitan planning, solid waste processing and reduction, and others. This position also entailed substantial work with an array of federal, state and other local government branches, offices and other entities including the Gary/Chicago Regional Airport as well as significant and frequent media responsibilities.

From 1983-1996 Mr. King was the founding partner of King and Meyer, P.C., a general service law firm. During his tenure, his responsibilities were substantially criminal defense related in state and federal courts in Indiana, Illinois, and several other jurisdictions.

From 1976-1983 Scott King held a variety of positions including private practice; service as a state (Indiana) prosecutor and public defender and as an assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Indiana. After leaving public office in 2006, Mr. King founded the Scott King Group and returned to the private practice of criminal defense law.

Mr. King received his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in 1973, his Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1976, and his Doctor of Laws from Concordia University (Honorary) in 1996.
